Under Illinois law, a person under the age of 18 is considered a minor for purposes of criminal conduct for misdemeanor violations. However, a person the age of 17 is considered an adult if charged with a felony offense. Thus, a minor arrested for a criminal offense will be handled in Juvenile Court not in Adult Court. Juvenile Court is very different from Adult Criminal Court. We have extensive experience in Juvenile Court.
